In the late 60s and early 70s, a displacement limit of 5 liters or 305 cubic inches was implemented on all engines in Trans-Am racing. It was this rule change that pushed Ford to produce the first Boss 302 Mustang in 1969.
WHEELS & TIRES. Engineers specified larger 15x7-inch wheels for the Boss 302, and for 1969, these were all of the Magnum 500 five-spoke style. However, the standard-issue wheels were finished with argent painted centers, while wheels with the more familiar chrome/black centers in the same dimensions were optional.
Ford brought back the Boss 302 name in 2012 and it wasn’t just an appearance package! The original Boss 302 set the bar quite high for it’s modern successors, but I think these new versions do it justice. This 302 offers up 444 horsepower and 380 pounds of torque, that’s some serious power for a street going Mustang.
