Turn the ignition switch from the OFF position to the RUN position eight times within 10 seconds with the last position being RUN. All of the door locks will cycle. This confirms that you are entering the programming mode. Press 7,8,9 and 0 buttons simultaneously on the keypad. This sends a lock signal.

I have the same problem on my 05 Mondeo Zetec passenger door, have to tug really hard to get it to open, internal catch and central locking is fine. I have just removed the door card and examined the mechanism, I think that the pushrod going down to the release mechanism doesn't quite go far enough, a slight extra push by hand on the inside
Then slide key inside-out several times, the carefully tried rotate key. Had to do tjis 3 times during the dayThis morning, -8 degrees, door opened on first try. -also applyed silicone oil (wd40) to the rubber door sealings (all doors) to prevent freezing doors to the body. When -15, door opened without any problem.
