SLK wouldn't start - Found answer!! I had the same problem as many on this topic. The engine cranked but would not start. I bought a new crankshaft position sensor and put that on, but didn't make any difference. I watched the video on 'You Tube' on taking the K40 relay out (which in fact was a very good video).

It is located in the engine bay on the drivers side. It has a black lid. So Suhvas, I can conclude that this little box of tricks will switch your front fog lights. To avoid upsetting this box, you would have to trigger a NEW auxilliary relay from the fog light plug.
