dc_wright. Put the top down about 1/2 way to relieve the tension on the top gasket. Pull it back out of the channel in the body back to about the center of the trunk. Then push it back into the slot in the body starting with the end of the top gasket back about 1/2 inch from where it is now in your photo.

Now that the car is here and the weather is nice I decided to pull the red tab in the boot/trunk and use the car until I get time to repair the roof motor. So the tray thing in the boot is down(no obstructions), switch bypassed, red tab pulled and turned so it stays out. Unlatched the roof from button and pushed roof back from the middle.

Yes there is a way to close manually in case of emergeny. Under the back seat there is a red lever which you pull. This dislodges the motors allowing you to manually work the roof. BE WARNED THOUGH doing this causes a lot of problems after with the resetting of the gears/clutches.
